This is a very nice single. It was a long road to get here, but I'm quite happy with it.
The drums and bass were recorded around January 2003 in some sessions Ran and Spike did at Original Studios. In the Spring of 2005, Ed and I recorded a number of guitar parts for works in process. We were in New York City recording in a hotel room at the Waldorf=Astoria. We had many logistical and technical problems during these sessions. I remembering wandering the streets of New York all night in search of a simple guitar cord looking for music stores, asking bands in random clubs, hoping the hotel entertainment dept. would help only to come up empty-handed, losing a whole night's opportunity to record. We had many additional recording problems and fought with our portable equipment most of the time. It reminded me a bit of the tragic Full Moon Sessions also attempted in New York.
After the New York sessions, I listened to the tracks extensively, looking for vocal and Moog part inspiration. I had many song concepts, but for the first time I actually had writer's block when it came to putting lyrics down on paper. This almost preempted this single.
In December 2005, things mostly came together for this track. I had a few technical problems, which prevented adding a Moog part I had in mind. But the song came together and I'm happy with the lyrics and vocal delivery.
Technically, this single is a little rough. There are some sonic anomalies, which we wouldn't have tolerated in a session such as The Warrior Ethos. However, I think the rawness fits the song perfectly.
