Originally, the song we thought would be the “Twentieth Anniversary Single” was the music for the now “Little Known” song. The music for the current “Twentieth Anniversary Single” is among my favorites. Unlike many Blanks songs, which only have one part and are all hook, this song has three very distinct parts to it. Anyway, after a few listens we thought the power of the music better fit our twenty-year career, than “Little known.”

The music for the song was recorded sometime in early January 2002, as were the other songs on the China Cabinet Oracle EP, and as of mid-October of that year, the project still wasn't ready for its final release. I was wondering at first why Kar was taking such a long time with the lyrics. Now that I've heard them, I think one of the reasons could well be that almost each line of this song seems to contain at least one reference to an earlier song, album, or other Blanks event. That's a lot of research for one song, and it's done again in “Farewell to the Blanks VI.”

To really appreciate this song to it's fullest, people should sit down in front of the website discography to catch as many of the references as possible. I also think that anyone who doesn't have the old material, Eggheads through Live to the Spirit World, will be in for a treat once that stuff is re-released. It will really give some point of reference to the lyrics of the song.

Anyway this song is celebration song for us. I hope the Eggheads enjoy it.
