The Blanks underwent a creative explosion around this time. I think after listening to Kill Me Hot Chocolate, we felt that we had taken the one hook pop song about as far as it could go, and that Kill Me Hot Chocolate was the perfect conclusion of all our work in that direction. We started work on the Sweet Love album.

The Lasagna Sampler includes some alternate mixes that we had before completing the Sweet Love album. We wanted to have a limited release to wet the public's appetite, and build on the popularity of Kill Me Hot Chocolate. We also didn't want to shock the public with such a lengthy album of a totally new direction. This would kind of ease our fans into it.

The limited release was a success, and the release party was insane full of liquor and mischief, and revelry.
