1986 and 1987 were probably the trouble years for The Blanks. After A Turn and a Halt, The Blanks didn't do much in the way of music at all. I kept busy with Just Add Water, and there were various other side projects. They include, A World Full of Friends, Mr. Ed and Friends doing Kumuga Junku, and countless others. The popularity of A Turn and a Halt was as strong as ever, but no one really seemed to even mention the fact that The Blanks were through.

One night in 1987 we had all gone to an amusement park, and Ran and maybe someone else had thrown up from riding a particularly shaky ride, over and over. “Let's Vomit” was popular at the time, and New Order had begun their period of remaking old songs. It was in vogue, and with such powerful inspiration we made “Let's Vomit ('87).” Again, this was just a one-time project.

I really didn't change up the guitar part much on this version. For that reason I still felt that perhaps I wasn't creative enough to rock with The Blanks and I still thought they were only pretending to like me because the other Blanks Enterprises projects I had worked on showed promise. Don't get me wrong—I like the song, I just think I was the least creative of the bunch at this time. I kind of created an audio canvas on which the tri-pluggers could paint their incredible sonic pictures.
