1987: First issue, cassette single, Blanks Enterprises
Band Memoirs
At various times in '87, Kar and I would be in the mood to record, but it was tough. The Blanks were by mutual agreement done, and Ran was devoting time to his girlfriend. It seems strange now to think Kar and I were upset that Ran's top priority wasn't a defunct band, but we were. There was just a lot of tension all around. Anyway, we had gotten together, finally, to try and record a song, but Ran sat in the corner and just held down the keys to his keyboard. This wasn't all that strange for Ran, but it usually didn't happen when we wanted to make an album or a single or whatever. Kar and I then came up with the idea of letting Ran do that while we made a song and just capture his pressed keys on the same tape. That's how Leader of the Lost and Found was recorded. We tried to claim it was a return to Trash Rock, but I really think it was just a sign of the bands tension and lack of focus. Ran didn't even know we had made the song until much later when we finally released it. He laughed when we told him how the song came about.
