[to top] Band Memoirs

By 1984, Ran, Spike, and I had officially settled in as the go-forward line-up of The Blanks. Where's the Phone? is unique in that it's the only surviving album of the first “Tri Plug Theory” era recordings. This was recorded after the now famous lost recordings American Dream and Doom's Day Celebration. In fact, this album was also lost for a time. We later found the master, though it was in need of serious repair. But thankfully we found it and restored it.

I remember thinking the title track's lyrics were pretty rebellious. Also, “Phone the Dead” holds up as a rockin' tune.
